Why Mbugu

Bringing school closer to the children who need it most

Mbugu is a village in Gombe Sub-County, Wakiso District. Most families here are poor and needy, unable to afford the basic necessities of life. Seeing this, the management of St. Mary's acquired land in Mbugu to provide accessible, quality education to children — especially those from poor and marginalized families.

Many children in the community walk long distances to school and arrive tired and exhausted, which affects their concentration, participation and results. A St. Mary's branch in Mbugu will bring education closer to them and give them a more supportive place to learn.

Our mission is to transform lives through education, promote human dignity, reduce illiteracy, and build a brighter future for all needy children.
